MONTH IN REVIEW: APRIL HIGHLIGHTS AND WHAT’S NEXT

Welcome back to Connective Strength’s blog. April was a bustling month filled with invaluable information, and we’re excited to share these highlights with you.

CAREGIVER SERIES PART TWO: FOCUSING ON THE CARE RECEIVER

This month, we continued our Caregiver Series with Part Two, which shifted our focus towards the care receivers. Understanding the perspectives and needs of those who receive care is crucial in fostering a supportive environment that truly benefits them. This segment aimed at empowering care receivers by addressing their unique challenges and highlighting effective ways for caregivers to enhance their support.

For those who have followed the series from its beginning, or if you’re just joining us, mark your calendars for May 4th. Part Three of our series will be a significant session where we bring together the insights and experiences of both caregivers and care receivers. This culmination will explore the dynamics between the two groups, aiming to bridge understanding and improve the caregiving process.

THE KIRKLAND MEETING: DR. RON GREGUSH ON HIPS AND HYPERMOBILITY

In another exciting event this month, the Kirkland meeting hosted Dr. Ron Gregush, an orthopedic surgeon from Evergreen Orthopedics and Sports Care. Dr. Gregush delivered an enlightening presentation on the complexities of hip health, with a particular focus on hypermobility and labral reconstruction. His talk provided attendees with a deep dive into the mechanics of the hip joint, issues arising from hypermobility, and the innovative surgical and non-surgical treatments available, such as labral reconstruction. This session was particularly beneficial for those dealing with hypermobility issues or involved in healthcare and physical therapy fields.

LOOKING FORWARD

As we wrap up this month’s review, we look forward to the continued sharing of knowledge and community engagement in the upcoming events. May promises to be another enriching month with the continuation of our Caregiver Series and our One Page Medical Summary Workshop. Stay tuned for more updates and remember to join us for the upcoming sessions.

Additionally, we’re thrilled to announce the upcoming EDS Awareness Month Event: Graceful Strength Book Launch Party. This special event will take place on May 1st from 6:00pm to 8:30pm at the Brightwater Center. It’s an excellent opportunity for community members to come together, learn more about Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS), and celebrate the release of a book dedicated to those who live with this condition. We hope you’ll join us for an evening of inspiration and support.

Thank you for being a part of our community. Whether you are a caregiver, a care receiver, or a healthcare professional, your participation and enthusiasm help make our events successful and our community stronger. We hope to see you in May for more engaging and informative sessions!
